Rutter Development works closely with cities and counties to thoughtfully restore historic buildings. Our goal is to tastefully modernize each project while retaining its traditional charm and historical significance to the community. 

Wahoo’s Fish Taco

Orange, California

Rutter Development worked closely with the City of Orange to restore the Vineland Hotel building originally built in 1886 serving as Orange Counties first hotel. This historic site currently houses Wahoo’s Fish Taco and other retail stores. The restoration project included:

• Removing a non-historical façade 

• Seismically retrofitting the building

• Bringing the building up to current Americans with Disabilities Act standards

• Converting the building into a restaurant and retail space while complying with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for theOld Towne Historic District.
