Raymond A. Rutter The inspiration behind what today is a long-established family tradition of building homes with the heart as well as the hand, Raymond A. Rutter obtained his Contractor's License (#644) in the 1930s and began building homes that quickly earned a reputation for quality and reliability. Although World War II put a temporary halt to new home construction, Rutter's passion endured in the 1960s when the senior Rutter was joined by his son, Raymond J. Rutter, to construct homes of the highest quality in such select locations as Beverly Hills, Ladera Heights, Bel Air, Palos Verdes and Brentwood. A new era in world-class homebuilding had begun. Raymond J. Rutter Continuing his father's deeply rooted philosophy of building meticulously crafted homes with a focus on quality, rather than quantity, Ray Rutter founded Cayman Development Company in 1969, dedicated to handcrafting the finest quality production homes on the market. Cayman proceeded to build hundreds of apartments and scores of custom homes in prime locations, along with earning the distinction of pioneering the condominium concept, building one of the first in Los Angeles County. At the same time, Rutter continued his father's vigilance to ensuring personal, hands-on quality control from his entire management staff, key to the impeccable reputation associated with every home bearing the Cayman name. Following his father’s retirement in 2002, Rutter assumed the role of Chairman, Rutter Development.
